I am an accidental Dahlia grower. Having moved to a property with enough space to grow flowers, my husband Bob immediately noticed my instant love affair and for my birthday purchased Floret’s Dahlia growing book. I was so inspired that I decided to not only grow the flowers for fun, but also learn everything I could about their habits, storage, propagation, seed collection, and dividing. (it’s a work in progress)

My first year was a true disaster. Very few tubers survived my attempts at storing them protected in newsprint in wood crates in our locked garden shed. They all rotted, as it just gets too cold here in our region. So the second year, undeterred, I purchased two dorm refrigerators, kept the temperature around 45-50F, put a small glass of water in each for a little humidity, wrapped each one in plastic wrap, and three months later they emerged healthy, firm, and ready to be awakened.

My hope with this website and my Dahlia tuber offerings is that you see the beauty that I have seen, feel the joy that I have felt, and experience the world a little more softly.
